The President of the Nollywood Ghana Chapter, will host 55 esteemed film guests from the diaspora tomorrow, October 21, 2024,

at the Media Launch of Nollywood in Diaspora Film/Food Festival.

This event, the first of its kind, is set to spotlight Nollywood's rich cultural impact while fostering global connections in the film industry.

The special guests, who arrived in Ghana earlier this week from the United States and the Caribbean, will experience an exclusive private premiere of Nollywood films. The festival launch aims to highlight Nollywood's significance in African cinema and its growing influence on a global scale.

As part of the celebration, attendees will enjoy a buffet of authentic African meals and traditional local drinks, giving them a taste of Africa’s rich culinary heritage. The night will also feature performances by the iconic Ogene group, known for their vibrant traditional music, a one-man band, and a surprise guest musician flying in from Jamaica to add an international flair to the evening’s entertainment.

The night will also feature the unveiling of the festival’s official logo and the announcement of the event's location, marking a significant milestone for the initiative.President of Nollywood Ghana Chapter expressed his excitement for the occasion, stating, This launch marks the beginning of a remarkable journey for Nollywood in the diaspora, bringing African stories to new global audiences while creating international collaborations."

This groundbreaking festival, set for its debut later this year in Ghana, aims to spotlight Nollywood's cultural impact and foster global connections in the film industry. The second edition is already planned to take place in the Caribbean in 2025.

The festival is expected to create lasting collaborations and open up new opportunities for Nollywood’s presence in international markets, further strengthening Ghana's position as a hub for African cinema.
